Seminar: Mellom himmel & hav VII: Uvissas tilstand / Seminar: Between Sky & Sea VII: Flying Blind

Seminaret Uvissas tilstand blir gjennomført 28./29.august som del av den første veka av arbeidsperioden. Arkeolog Trond Lødøen, samfunnsvitar Harald Dyrkorn og kunstnar/forskar Michelle Teran er invitert til å utdjupa tematikken ved årets festival, med ein guided tur i landskapet på Fjørtoftneset, forelesingar og felles samtalar. Me har invitert med oss ei lita gruppe frå Ytre kunstfagskule, nokre lokale og kunstnar/kurator/skribent Sissel Lillebostad. Målet er ein felles samtale der fortid, notid og framtid kan setjast i ein samanheng. Under kjem ein introduksjon til foredragholderne og skribenten. 

The seminar Flying Blind is arranged 28./29.August as part of the first week in the working period. Archeologist Trond Lødøen, socialscientist Harald Dyrkorn and artist/researcher Michelle Teran are invited to address this year’s topic from various angles, with a guided walk in the landscape at Fjørtoftneset, lectures and an inclusive conversation. We have invited a small group from Ytre Art College, some local people and artist/curator/writer Sissel Lillebostad to join. We aim for a conversation where past, present and future can merge. Below is an an introduction to the speakers and the writer.

Harald Dyrkorn (f. 1947) er frå Fjørtoft og bur no på Skarnes i Sør-Odal. Han har fagleg bakgrunn i sosialantropologi og samfunnsgeografi med særleg interesse for sosialt rom og forholdet mellom sosiale fellesskap og omgivnader i nordatlantiske kystsamfunn. Som autodidakt har han også  kunnskapar i geologi og arkeologi, særleg om landskapshistorie og steinalderen på Sunnmøre.

Harald Dyrkorn (b. 1947) is from Fjørtoft and now lives at Skarnes in Sør-Odal. He has an academic background in social anthropology and human geography, with a particular interest in social space and the relationship between social communities and their environments in North Atlantic coastal societies. As an autodidact, he has knowledge in geology and archaeology, especially concerning landscape history and the Stone Age in Sunnmøre.

Michelle Teran (CA/DEI) er kunstnar, researchar og undervisar, som fokuserer på økologiar av omsorg, kollektive sørgjeprosessar, og feministiske, dekoloniale, øko-sosiale og kritiske læringsprosessar. Ho har blant anna forvandla kolonihagen sin til eit kunst-og-økologi prosjekt, der ho dyrkar grønnsaker, og eksperimenterer med omsorgsinformert praksisar og metodar. I hagen er ho også vert for ulike aktivitetar for læring.

Michelle Teran (CA/DE) is an educator, artist, and researcher with a focus on ecologies of care, collective grief, feminist, decolonial, eco-social, and critical pedagogies. Among other things, she has transformed her garden allotment plot into an art and ecology project, where she grows food, experiments with care-informed practices and methods, and hosts various learning activities.

Trond Lødøen er førsteamanuensis i arkeologi ved Universitetsmuseet i Bergen, med lang erfaring fra arkeologiske utgravninger, analyser av bergkunst og fortolkning av arkeologiske spor. Hovedinteressen er knyttet til Skandinavisk steinalder via materiell kultur og ikonografi, hvor han er opptatt av å finne nye veier til kunnskap, gjennom flervitenskapelige tilnærminger. Samtidig ønsker han å styrke humanistiske tilnærminger i møte med naturvitenskap for å dekolonialisere steinalderen og avkode dens ikonografi. 

Trond Lødøen associate Professor in Archaeology at the University Museum of Bergen, experienced in archaeological excavations, analyses of rock art and interpretation of archaeological remains. Main interest related to the Scandinavian Stone Age through material culture and iconography, where I am/ he is concerned with new paths to knowledge, by multidisciplinary measures. At the same time, I am/ he is eager to strenghten humanistic approaches, encountering Science, to decolonize the Stone Age and decode its iconography.

Sissel Lillebostad har praksis som billedkunstner, kunsthistoriker og kurator. Utdannet ved KHiO, KHiB og UiB. Kunstnerisk leder av kunsthuset Kabuso fra september 2017. Kurator for KORO-prosjekt HVL, avd. Kronstad, 2010-25. Faglig leder av Skapende kuratorpraksis, KHiB, 2004-2014. Redaktør for tidsskriftet Numer, 2015-18, Kunstjournalen B-Post 2008, 2012-2013, 2015, Håndbok i lyd og Lydgalleriets jubileums-publikasjon 2017. Siste publiserte tekst er Om fellesskap og kunstarbeid, i antologien «Kunstsentrenes vekselstrøm», Museumsforlaget AS, mars 2023. Lillebostad bor i Bergen.

Sissel Lillebostad has a practice as visual artist, art historian and curator, with studies at KHiO, KHiB and UiB. Artistic director at Kabuso Art center since september 2017. Curator for the KORO project HVL, location Kronstad, 2010-25. Head of Creative curatorial practice, KhiB, 2004-2014. Editor of Numer magazine 2015-18, Kunstjournalen B-Post 2008, 2012-2013, 2015, Håndbok i lyd and Lydgalleriet’s anniversary publication 2017. The most recent published text is Om fellesskap og kunstarbeid (On community and art work), in the antology «Kunstsentrenes vekselstrøm», Museumsforlaget AS, march 2023. Lillebostad lives in Bergen.
